The painted denim from Johny Dar’s “Jeans For Refugees” runway collection is now on display at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
Dar’s collection consists of 100 pairs of celebrity donated jeans which Dar painted over and auctioned off to raise money for displaced people globally. The auction for the jeans began shortly after the runway collection but before the jeans go to their new private owners they are on display at the Saatchi Gallery.
“This started as a humble dream of wanting to make a difference through what I can do…and the rest was only possible through the generous souls that have contributed to this project,” said Dar. I am honored and humbled to be part of this… I would love to mention everyone by name who has helped to bring this all together but we would need a small newspaper for that.”
The new exhibit includes the donated jeans by various celebrities like Kate Moss, Elton John and Ryan Gosling (to name a few) which Dar painted over in vibrant colors and winding patterns. The Jeans for Refugees gallery will be on display until Oct. 30.
