The brand announced the news Tuesday, saying that its women’s denim will now accommodate sizes 23-34. Popular plus-size model, Paloma Elsesser—of Nike and Fenty Beauty fame—will be the face for the brand this season.
The brand, which specializes in a wide and varying collection of denim, has been active this year in broadening its appeal to a wider audience. In July, 7 For All Mankind revealed that its upcoming Luxe Vintage line would be closer to a stretch jean than the rigid denim consumers have come to expect from vintage, ’90s-inspired looks. With the addition of expanded sizing options, 7 For All Mankind has sent a clear message that its business model aims to be as inclusive as possible. And Elsesser may be the right pick to help the brand promote it.
The social media star turned professional model has been active in supporting plus size fashion and inclusiveness in the realm of beauty. She will be joined by Stella Maxwell for an ad campaign that sets out to include all body types as equal parts of “mankind.”
“I’ve always liked to perform, I’ve always like to express myself,” Elsesser said in a new video ad that will be released with the collection. Each new spot ends with the slogan “I am mankind,” both a play on the company name and an acknowledgment that human beings, especially those who buy premium denim, come in all shapes and sizes.
7 For All Mankind’s website has already been updated with an extended sizing selection for women, which includes more than 20 denim fits already popular with its audience, including its skinny and high-waisted styles. Among them is a pair of Luxe Vintage High Waist Ankle Skinny, retailing for $219.
