FIT Hosts Industry Leaders on Denim Panel

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

FIT in New York City hosted a panel titled “21st Century Denim” with industry leaders discussing the past and future of the fabric, in association with the school’s exhibit “Denim: Fashion’s Frontier” (Dec. 1–May 7, 2016).

The panel was moderated by Emma McClendon, curator of the exhibit, and consisted of Kara Nicholas, Cone Denim vice president product design and marketing; Andrew Olah, founder of Kingpins; and Jeffrey Silberman, textile development and marketing professor at FIT. The denim experts covered a variety of topics, from the fabric’s enduring popularity to different aspects of denim sustainability.
