Adidas Leaves Its Mark on Men’s Paris Fashion Week

With modern day fashion icons like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West sporting Adidas, the athletic giant is edging its way onto the catwalk. During the Spring ’16 Men’s Paris Fashion Week (June 23-28), Adidas debuted two new lines—an apparel collaboration with White Mountaineering and the latest from its Tubular footwear series.

Adidas Originals hosted a light show with acrobatic performers to launch its Spring ’16 Tubular line. The company unveiled four new models, including the Nova, Doom, X and Defiant styles. The sneakers are a contemporary take on an archival shoe, the Tubular 93, updated with neoprene, leather and knitted uppers.

Adidas continued to put modern twists on archival designs with its apparel collection with White Mountaineering. The 26-piece line features color blocking, graphic details and reflective accents, as well as Adidas’ three-stripe logo with a minimal color palette of blue and gray inspired by chambray uniforms. White Mountaineering Designer Yosuke Aizawa described the triangle piece on the back of the garments and footwear as a “collaboration sign-off.”

On the footwear end, the line offers 10 styles centered around five Adidas shoes: BW Army, Supergrip, ZX 500 HI, Formel 1 and Energy Boost.

The Spring ’16 Adidas Originals by White Mountaineering line marked the first time Adidas has worked with the Japanese label on apparel. Previously, Adidas and White Mountaineering collaborated on sneakers for Spring ’15 and Fall ’14.
