American Eagle is partnering with the Student Conservation Association (SCA), a youth service and stewardship program, to donate up to 100,000 trees in celebration of Earth Day.
From April 15-22, the brand will donate one dollar to have a tree planted by the SCA for every pair of AEO Denim X and Flex Shorts purchased.
This program marks the ninth year of the AEO-SCA partnership, which has provided student volunteers with opportunities to work in national parks, given hands-on career experience and developed green solutions with environmental leaders.
The partnership also places an SCA sustainability fellow at American Eagle Outfitters’ corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh to help conduct baseline analyses of CO2 emissions and measure the company’s greenhouse gas reductions. AEO is looking to reduce the intensity of its CO2 emissions by 20 percent by 2017.
Chad Kessler, American Eagle Outfitters global brand president, said, “Our ‘Buy One, Get One Tree’ campaign provides a rare opportunity to make both a fashion and an ecological statement.” He continued, “American Eagle Outfitters shares our customers’ passion for the outdoors and preservation of our natural resources. We are always delighted to support SCA in its mission of empowering the next generation of conservation leaders.”
The promotion extends across AEO’s more than 800 stores in the U.S. and Canada and online at ae.com
