Icons from the “happiest place on earth” help set a joyful tone in American Eagle’s (AE) new holiday collection.
Tapping into Gen Z’s thirst for nostalgia, the teen specialty retailer launched its first-ever collaboration with Disney last week. The limited-edition collection features Disney’s iconic characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and more.
The capsule represents a “genuine collaboration between two admired brands” and “honors Disney’s timeless characters paired with AE’s modern fabrics and approach to design,” American Eagle states.
In line with at-home fashion trends, the women’s line offers crew-neck sweatshirts and oversized tees adorned with both classic and festive graphics, a Sherpa hoodie and printed pajama sets.
Women’s denim also gets a mouse makeover. The Disney x AE boyfriend denim jacket boasts a black vintage wash and Mickey Mouse graphic on the back. Distressed mom jeans are patched up with Disney-themed fabrics.
The men’s collection styles include co-branded graphic hoodies, T-shirts and long-sleeve tees with vintage graphics, holiday-themed pajamas and a range of boxer briefs.
Unisex accessories like black-and-white Mickey Mouse-print sneakers, novelty socks, beanies and a watch round-out the Disney x AE collection.
AE bowed the collection with a wintery animation-inspired campaign starring TikTok star Wisdom Kaye and Addison Rae, who starred in the brand’s back-to-school campaign. The campaign also spotlights AE’s core holiday assortment including sherpa jackets, oversized fleece hoodies, moisture-wicking jackets and men’s Airflex+ jeans.
