Arvind Debuts Neo Cord Collection

Channeling the Fab Four, Arvind debuted a new corduroy collection on Tuesday at Bluezone in Munich, Germany. The collection, called Neo Cord, takes aim at the belief that corduroy is only a winter fabrication.

“There’s nothing new with corduroy, but by using the same technology we use in denim, we can bring denim sensibilities to the fabric,” said Vijay Shrinivas, Arvind chief sales and marketing officer. “You can wash it down for spring and summer.”

To display the breadth of colors and effects Neo Cord can achieve, the mill tapped Italian garment finishing company Tonello to wash one fabric six ways using No Stone, Lazer Blaze and other eco techniques. The result is a spectrum of indigo cords that spans navy to steel, clean to distressed.

Other styles included distressed corduroy trucker jackets, bombers, Western shirts and button-down shirts with yarn dyed checks.

Arvind devoted its entire Bluezone booth to Neo Cord. “We’re one of the largest denim manufacturers in the world, but we’re always looking to innovate and surprise. We always like to focus on one innovation a year to bring to this show,” Shrinivas said.
