Ksubi and P.E Nation Throw it Back to the ’90s

Two Australian apparel brands with their own unique specialties found common ground in the decade that brought crop tops, cargos and cutouts to the forefront of fashion.

Streetwear brand Ksubi and activewear label P.E Nation released Thursday a 16-piece  women’s collection that marries their bold styles. Spanning ’90s-inspired denim silhouettes to oversized jersey tees, the collaboration offers a contemporary update on the athleisure fashion culture.

“Combining the two brand’s aesthetics with an intuitive synergy, the collection offers statement yet versatile pieces that combine femininity with a raw street edge and creates a capsule wardrobe that women will want to wear all day, every day,” they said.

Featuring 10 denim pieces alongside lifestyle and activewear styles, the Ksubi x P.E Nation collaboration delivers shearling outerwear, a structured cut-out cargo dress, bike shorts and a cropped long-sleeve tee set with a custom hyper-warped print. The pieces are designed to be paired with key denim styles such as a layered denim skirt, a longline denim Trucker jacket, a wide-leg jean and denim bra.

The garments also feature unique details including Ksubi’s signature 4×4 embroidered crosses, P.E Nation’s signature gold hardware and a custom logo.

Both brands have found success outside their respective native categories of jeans and activewear.

Founded in 1999 as an artistic collective with a focus on distressed denim, Ksubi has grown into a global streetwear brand favored by celebrities from Kendall Jenner to Travis Scott. It recently bowed a capsule collection with 23 “maverick performers, artists, musicians and athletes” to celebrate its 23rd birthday.

P.E Nation was launched in 2016 by co-founders Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning during a period that saw activewear evolve into an all-day, everyday staple with crossover appeal. It now offers technical activewear, retro-inspired streetwear, functional snow gear, footwear, accessories and denim.

“Ksubi has always been a brand that embraces change,” said Craig King, Ksubi CEO. “We have seen the worlds of denim, streetwear and activewear cross over in recent times and there’s no better example of this than what Pip and Claire have done with P.E Nation. The opportunity to combine the respective DNAs of two great Australian brands at this time to produce something fresh for our markets was too good to turn down.”

The Ksubi x P.E Nation collection is available now on both brands’ websites and from select retail partners. The line retails for $120-$350.
