Turkish denim manufacturer Calik Denim is competing for the title of overall “National Public Champion” in this year’s European Business Awards (EBA).
Calik was named a National Champion in the Environmental and Corporate Sustainability category of the 2016 European Business Awards by an independent panel of judges. The mill is now vying for the public’s vote to become “National Public Champion” for Turkey.
The European Business Awards shines a spotlight on the most innovative businesses in the continent by promoting success, innovation and ethics in the European business community. Past winners of the awards come from a diverse range of industries including cosmetics, pharmaceutical, engineering, fashion, online businesses, manufacturing and transportation.
To compete, Calik created a video providing insight into the story of their business. The video highlights the company’s focus on research and development, sustainable manufacturing and better living and working accommodations for workers.
The public has until Feb. 26 to watch videos and vote for their favorite business on the EBA website. The winner will be announced on March 7. The video, along with a written entry, will also be reviewed and scored against other National Champions in a second judging.
If Calik wins the title for Turkey, it will go up against 31 different countries for the overall “European Public Champion” award. The winner of this top prize will be determined by a second round of public voting from March 7 to April 26. The results will be announced at the EBA Gala in June 2016. Last year, the public vote generated over 170,000 votes from across the world.
Ebru Ozaydin, head of sales and marketing at Calik Denim, said, “The public vote means a great deal as it is both our existing and potential customers and clients giving their approval to our success.”
