Capsule Plans Women’s Show in LA

Capsule is bound for Hollywood. The fashion and lifestyle trade show announced Thursday that it will add a Los Angeles edition to its schedule of shows set to take place in downtown L.A. at the California Mart on Oct. 17-18.

The L.A. show will debut with approximately 100 emerging and established lifestyle, apparel, swim, active and accessories brands, a highly-edited mix compared to Capsule New York which accommodates more than 600 brands.

Capsule launched in 2007 by New York City-based fashion consultancy group BPMW, and was acquired by Reed Exhibitions in 2013. The show is currently in New York, Paris and Las Vegas.

A point of differentiation for the L.A. show will be its focus on East Coast brands which are vying for more attention from West Coast accounts. Deirdre Malone, Capsule co-founder, said the show was born out of growing demand from East Coast brands who wish to show at the mart due to the “high caliber of retailers who attend.”

Malone added, “Demand for our niche of progressive and advanced contemporary labels is growing right now, especially on the West Coast, and we’re launching there in order to meet that demand. Downtown L.A. is a great, revitalized destination for shopping and culture right now; we’re excited to be adding presence there to our calendar, in addition to our shows in New York, Paris and Las Vegas.”
