Champion and Coca-Cola are the latest unlikely pairing to take a stab at streetwear.
The heritage brands partnered on a limited-edition capsule collection for men and women that fuses color and nostalgic designs. The co-branded collection includes activewear essentials like T-shirts, hoodies, jackets and sweatpants, and a range of accessories such as hats, socks and bags in ’80s and ’90s patterns and colorways.
“We are excited to partner with a world-beloved brand like Coca-Cola on this collection that resonates across cultures and personalities,” David Robertson, Champion’s director of brand marketing, said. “Consumers have grown up drinking Coca-Cola and wearing Champion, leading us to create designs that inspire nostalgia while being on the cutting edge of style.”
Items are immediately available at Champion, Champs Sports, Foot Locker and Footaction stores, as well as on the Eastbay and Champion websites.
“Coca-Cola is the latest brand partnership in Champion’s growing portfolio of collaborations that have pushed design boundaries while never wavering from our core commitment to top quality, highly functional products,” Robertson added.
Champion, which started in 1919 under its parent company Hanesbrands, has seen a surge of recent success. Earlier this month, the brand reported that it is on track to reach its $2 billion goal two years earlier than planned, and is expecting another $1 billion in the next few years. The reason, it predicted, is a younger demographic that gravitates toward the activewear brand, as well as its push for more premium lines and increasing distribution to important markets like China and South Korea.
