Premium menswear brand Cohen & Sons announced that the brand formed a partnership with California-based textile companies, Phoenix Textiles and Blue River Denim, a washhouse and finishing facility.
Cohen & Sons was first founded in 1947 in New York City. In 2014, Zach Cohen, the founder’s grandson, relaunched the brand through crowdfunding in Los Angeles. The brand will now release 60 new products in the upcoming year, including redesigned denim, moisture-wicking chinos, technical knits and wovens. C&S is also now positioning to distribute the line to major retailers across the United States.
Phoenix Textiles, headquartered in Los Angeles, produces over 80 million square yards of denim annually for labels around the world. Blue River Denim offers wet and dry garment processing, including ozone machines and denim laser systems to cut the facility’s water usage.
Zach Cohen, president of C&S, said of the partnership, “This creates a huge first mover advantage in the fashion space as we are now able to innovate more quickly and develop the highest quality level of products, fabrics and wash styles unlike our competitors.”
In combination with this announcement, the company is also opening its first round of funding on AngelList and plans to complete its first round of funding before the end of June 2016.
