Collina Strada Adds Color to Vintage Levi’s Jeans

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Bright colors are revitalizing the denim market this spring, and Levi’s latest collaboration is no exception.

The denim brand teamed with frequent collaborator Collina Strada for a limited run of customized vintage Levi’s 501 jeans and Trucker jackets decorated with a cheerful all-over motif of color swatches and rhinestones. The special Levi’s x Collina Strada drop launched Saturday exclusively on the Levi’s app.

Known for combining vibrant colors and garden-inspired designs with upcycled existing garments and fabrics, Collina Strada was a natural collaborator for Levi’s as the brand urges consumers to “buy better, wear longer” in its ongoing sustainability campaign. In January, the brands bowed a capsule collection of upcycled 501 jeans embellished with a multi-color star print.

Collina Strada x Levi’s dyed swatch jackets and jeans retail for $400. The rhinestone versions retail for $600.

The color swatches featured in the latest drop are a running theme throughout Collina Strada’s Spring 2022 collection, and even sparked the idea for the collaboration. Collina Strada founder Hillary Taymour said she was testing a dye pattern on a pair of Levi’s in her studio and noticed “how cute they were.”

The upcycled collection is one of several sustainably fashionable collections Levi’s released this month. Levi’s Vintage Clothing bowed an Earth Day capsule collection comprised of three graphic tees and three Orange Tab jeans made with organic cotton inspired by environmental activism in the 1970s. Meanwhile, the Levi’s Wellthread spring collection offers in-demand loose fits dyed with natural and plant-based sources.
