Cordura Celebrates 50 Years at Munich Fabric Start

Cordura, along with innovation partners from Artistic Milliners, Lenzing and Schoeller Technologies, celebrated its 50th anniversary on Tuesday at Keyhouse, Munich Fabric Start’s area dedicated to collaborations and technology.

Cordura Global Brand and Marketing Director Cindy McNaull, Schoeller COO Hans Kohn, Artistic Milliners Global R&D Manager Neil Bell and Lenzing Project Manager Michael Kininmonth were at the show to dish out birthday cake to attendees and to present their anniversary collaboration, X Venture Collexion.

The collection, designed by outdoor apparel mavericks Struktur Studio, is made with Cordura denim engineered by Artistic Milliners. The retro space-inspired capsule also incorporated Schoeller’s temperature regulating technologies and Lenzing’s Tencel for a soft hand.

Cordura denim’s abrasion resistance is at least four times that of comparable weight traditional 100 percent cotton denim fabric. The company has been celebrating its half century of providing strong textiles by rolling out a series of collaborations and capsule collections, including a partnership with Cotton Inc. and Cone.
