Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is upping his style game with a new collection of denim under his CR7 brand set to launch in the U.S. in May.
Designed and distributed through New York-based Uniti Fashion, CR7 Denim captures Ronaldo’s signature sleek and fluid style with jeans and wovens across three tiers of product: core, signature and fashion.
The debut denim collection, made with three types of fabric, is designed to offer a balance of comfort and movement. Rigid fabrics are washed down for a softer hand feel. Stretch fabrications feature an authentic denim look, and tech stretch offers superior recovery. Jean jackets and shirts are also cut to offer total motion and comfort. Washes span dark indigo and black, to light blue and white.
Cuts for bottoms include the modern straight, slim straight, tapered, super skinny and painted on skinny—a low rise skinny that fits tight through the hips, thighs, and legs. The line also boasts jean shorts with rolled hems. The collection offers clean looks, as well as rip and repair treatments, undone hems, moto stitching, shadow patches and simple rips.
White paint splatter sprinkled throughout the line and white rivets are a nod to Ronaldo’s favorite color, white.
The collection will launch in the U.S. at CR7.com, with retail prices ranging from $49.50 for jean shorts to $179.50 for biker jackets. It will launch globally through Zalora, Zalando, Myntra and Namshi. Retail is expected to expand for Fall ’17.
RIVET caught up with Ronaldo before the launch of CR7 Denim to find out more about his denim style.
RIVET: You travel a lot. Has being on the road influenced your style?
Ronaldo: Of course, my travels influence my style and in some ways I could say they are also a source of inspiration. I would have to say New York is one of my favorites denim cities.
RIVET: What is your first denim memory?
Ronaldo: Maybe one from when I started my career. I remember that one of the things I did with my first salary was to buy a good pair of jeans.
RIVET: Do you have a denim icon?
Ronaldo: No one in particular, I have always been a denim fan since I was very young. They are an absolute must have in my wardrobe.
RIVET: Dark or light wash?
Ronaldo: Depends a lot on the occasion and the season. I like both, so my choice depends on several factors, including the mood when I pick what I will wear.
RIVET: Skinny or straight?
Ronaldo: Each person has their own preference but for me I would say skinny.
