Denim brands are calling on creative types, famous faces and real women to pose in their Spring ’19 advertising campaigns. Here’s a look at who’s doing what.
7 For All Mankind
7 For All Mankind tapped a group of creative individuals for a spring campaign about self-expression. The #WEAREMANKIND campaign shines a spotlight on artists, poets, musician, designs and other creative personalities, including stylist Luka Sabbat and Instagram star Farouk James.
“Our range of denim creates a blank canvas for our fans to express themselves. We want to inspire them to be their own unique, beautiful and artistic selves,” Jenna Habayeb, 7 For All Mankind chief marketing officer, said. “Our Spring 2018 campaign is a celebration of mankind and everything that comes with it–flaws and triumphs, strengths and struggles. This is a big step forward for us and stands as our commitment to self-expression.”
The campaign, shot in New York City by photographer Billy Kidd, features the brand’s new high waist super bleached pieces, denim with patchwork and hand-painted details and vintage-inspired denim. The collection also boasts 7 For All Mankind’s Total Twill program for men made with breathable Japanese fabric.
For spring, 7 For All Mankind is also releasing a graphic “Mankind” T-shirts and sweatshirts, of which a portion of the proceeds go to Love Is Louder, an anti-bullying initiative.
NYDJ
Real women continue to take center stage in NYDJ’s Spring ’18 campaign. The brand features 12 inspiring women who range in age from 34-62 and represent an array of professions and interests, from physicians and yoga instructors, to chefs and bloggers.
Dressed in NYDJ’s spring line of white blouses, jeans and denim jackets, the women share personal stories and empowering messages in videos on NYDJ.com.
The campaign is a continuation of NYDJ’s 2017 National Fit Tour. The casting call saw the brand traveling to malls across the U.S. to find women of all ages, shapes and sizes to star in its advertising.
Sam Edelman
Footwear-turned-lifestyle brand Sam Edelman features model Carolyn Murphy in its Spring ’18 campaign. The campaign, set in Palm Springs, California, aims to tell a story “old-world glamour, effortless elegance and modern irreverence.”
In the images, Murphy wears an array of items from Sam Edelman’s full lifestyle collection, including the brand’s recently launched denim collection. Murphy wears a pair of black jeans with an uneven hem and a frayed jean jacket.
“This year celebrates my 40-year anniversary in the footwear and fashion industry,” said Sam Edelman, designer, founder and president of Sam Edelman. “In recognition of that milestone, I wanted to celebrate what the brand has always stood for: integrity, timeless elegance, elevated and effortless style and the empowered woman.”
