For the third year in a row, Diesel teamed with football club AC Milan to dress its roster. As the official “style partner” of AC Milan, the brand designed the team’s off-field mid-season and winter uniforms.
And for the first time, the partnership includes a corresponding capsule collection for fans that closely mirrors the uniforms, allowing fans to dress in similar threads as their favorite players.
“We all have a common language and belief, which is AC Milan,” said Andrea Rosso, Diesel’s creative director of licenses. “We want the fans to feel as though they are a part of the team, so this season we aligned the two as closely as we could. What the fans are wearing is almost exactly the same as what the players are wearing.”
The red-and-black mid-season and winter uniforms differ slightly, but both keep Diesel’s boldness and edge at the forefront.
The casual mid-season uniform includes Diesel’s signature Jogg jeans, a nylon coach’s jacket, casual sneakers, a T-shirt with the “AC Milan” print and a beanie. The winter uniform features a graphic blazer-meets-moto-jacket hybrid, trousers, a hooded parka, a quarter-zip jumper, T-shirts and sneakers.
The Diesel x AC Milan collection for fans offers identical pieces and features in some way Diesel’s famous Mohican icon, an official “AC Milan Style Partner” label or an “AC Milan” embroidery or laser-cut detail.
And this isn’t the only place denim brands and soccer teams are finding synergies.
This fall, True Religion released a men’s and women’s capsule collection with England’s Manchester United. The line includes dual-branded denim bomber jackets, Trucker jackets and jeans.
In July, Guess inked a three-year deal to dress hometown team Los Angeles Football Club. The brand provides the team’s suiting and denim for off-the-field events.
