Diesel Denim Lab Teams Up with Faustine Steinmetz

Rivet's 2020 Denim Circularity report takes a deep dive into how the global denim industry is plotting its circular future amidst a worldwide pandemic.

Diesel Denim Lab, a new hub for designers to experiment with innovative denim designs and technology, teamed up with London-based designer Faustine Steinmetz for its first project.

Inspired by Diesel Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti’s championing of new design talent, the Denim Lab strives to bring out a ‘jeans feeling’ in designers’ creations.

“Denim is most importantly what we stand for, and we want to keep pushing forward the Diesel DNA with material, innovation, technology and new shapes,” said Formichetti. “We’ve created a laboratory of denim experts to produce our first collection, which will continue to evolve as new personalities join the project.”

For the debut Fall ’17 collection, Steinmetz focused on the future by reworking denim and classic silhouettes with a “vanishing devoré effect.” The collection offers menswear and womenswear in light blue, indigo and black washes. Pieces include skirts, dresses, shorts, jumpsuits, jackets, T-shirts and jeans.
