Not only is DL1961’s upcoming collection size-inclusive—it’s also more sustainable than ever.
The brand that is no stranger to celebrity endorsement, wooing the likes of Jessica Alba and Emily Ratajkowski as promoters for its premium denim in the past, is now making its customer base the star of the next line by opening up sizing to be more inclusive and by offering more options than ever.
For the first time, all seven fits in DL1961’s new Spring ’19 collection will be available in sizes 14w to 24w, in addition to its straight sizes, and all but two of the new styles will also be available in sizes 22-32. The collection will also incorporate a few features to help increase wearability, like a new fit with a wider leg and a sculpted waist.
“DL1961 is synonymous with premium quality and unparalleled comfort–while remaining mindful of our impact on the planet. We’re driven by passion, inspired by our environment and built on innovation and creativity,” DL1961 said in an emailed statement to Rivet. “In our goal to eliminate global waste, we offer jeans made with only eco-fibers and innovative technology like Promodal and Refibra lyocell using less water, and utilizing solar power for all manufacturing.”
New priorities when it comes to sizing haven’t seemed to set back the brand in terms of style. The next collection showcases everything from wide-legged high-rises to the classic porcelain-white skinny jean. The brand’s popular Florence jean returns with a mid-length rise in both dark indigo and black. The Florence and the Bridget silhouettes both have a style in the new collection that comes with an “instasculpted” waist. And, to stay on trend, DL1961 will also include a flared leg style, called the Rachel, in the new collection. It will be available in a light indigo hue the brand calls “topanga.”
DL1961’s move to more size-inclusive styles comes as a natural fit for a brand run by a mother and daughter team and that prides itself on creating jeans for women that “that fit like a glove each and every time you put them on.“
DL1961’s Spring/Summer ’19 collection will be available for sale starting Feb. 1 at all of its retail partners and at DL1961.com. Prices for the collection will range from $178 to $189.
