It’s season two for Dsquared2’s sustainable One Life One Planet capsule collection.
The Fall 2022 men’s and women’s assortment has dropped in all Dsquared2 stores, its website and select worldwide retailers and it continues to feature Earth-friendly fabrics such as organic cotton denim and jersey and recycled nylon and cashmere.
“[The] materials sourced are the result of our effort to ease the product’s environmental impact,” the brand said in a statement.
Denim made from 99 percent organic cotton (with 1 percent elastane-spandex) is used for jeans, jackets and shorts. Other jeans, shorts and skirt styles are constructed with denim made from partially organic cotton.
Men’s jeans include the slim fit Skater model in three distressed blue washes and a clean beige denim version, the crop fit Cool Guy jean in a used wash or with subtle rips and distressing, another distressed slim called the Sexy Twist and the stonewashed blue tapered Biker. There is also a regular fit button-front denim jacket with destroyed detailing.
There are nine women’s jeans in the collection including medium-waist flares in blue denim or orange corduroy, three blue versions of the cropped Boston style and one in beige denim, another cropped silhouette with a brown back tab and the faded and ripped blue Jennifer model that is also cropped. A dark and light wash version of the slim fit Boyfriend denim jacket are also available.
Other key pieces include recycled nylon puffer jackets and vests, message tees in organic cotton, wool pullover sweaters, sweats in organic cotton fleece, wool knit hat and scarf sets, cotton baseball caps, sneakers in recycled cotton or leather, organic cotton espadrilles and nylon accessories such as backpacks, belts and bags.
Many pieces feature large logos and other conspicuous branding such as the skater-style jeans with a large back tab available in three colors emblazoned with the collection’s name and a Canadian maple leaf.
The color palette is bold with pops of bright yellow, orange, red and purple balanced with blue and teal.
Dsquared2 says One Life One Planet is aimed at “a contemporary urban explorer.” Prices range from $245 for a baseball cap to $2,370 for the puffer jacket. Denim pieces retail for $525-$870.
The first drop debuted in stores in April 2022.
The collection’s overall message has also infiltrated the brand’s corporate culture. Starting in February 2022 several departments participated in an educational program about the importance of increasing sustainability and setting guidelines to achieve this.
“From a creative standpoint it is exciting to continue to explore new paths, to challenge each other and take another step into the future,” said Dsquared2’s co-founders Dean and Dan Caten.
The Italy-based brand run by the Canadian Caten twins launched its women’s capsule collection called Honey that offers extended sizes earlier this year.
