Eddie Bauer has launched an updated version of its classic down jacket that can be customized a million ways– literally. The EB Custom MicroTherm down jacket features more than one million possible design combinations, allowing consumers to craft their own custom MicroTherm jacket.
The EB Custom interactive online platform, available now through Eddie Bauer’s website, offers 11 distinct areas that can be fully customized by color and pattern including shoulder, body, inner lining, side stretch panels, zipper and logos. Customers can also add a monogram to the upper right chest and/or sleeve of the jacket, as well as a monogram on the interior label.
The jacket, which was first crafted for high alpine mountaineering, features a slim, active fit and includes an ultra-lightweight DWR ripstop shell fabric and 800-fill StormDown insulation.
Eddie Bauer CEO Mike Egeck said, “Innovation, quality and an appreciation for the outdoors were the true passions of our founder, Eddie Bauer, and remain the foundation of our business today.” He added, “Consumers want customizable products. With the launch of EB Custom, we are extending our expertise in the creation of premium-quality, technical down outerwear to empower consumers to design a jacket that reflects their individuality.”
Eddie Bauer has also announced that all EB Custom MicroTherm jackets will now be made using down that is certified to meet the Responsibility Sourced Down standard. Allied Feather & Down, a partner and supplier of StormDown, recently launched a Track My Down program where down is now traceable on their website. For customers who order a Custom MicroTherm, their jacket will feature a unique lot number on the hangtag to track the history, origin, natural properties and quality of the down inside their jacket.
The EB Custom MicroTherm jacket is available in both a hooded ($279) and non-hooded ($249) version for men and women.
