First Look at Berto’s Luxury Lines for Spring ’18

Sustainability is evolving at a dizzying pace with an increasing number of mandates, goals, expectations and—in some cases—legislation. Attend the Sustainability FAQs workshop to get caught up on the latest on circularity, traceability, net zero and inventory reduction.

Italian denim mill Berto revealed what’s next for its luxury brand of fabrics, Manifattura 1887 – Fratelli Berto.

The two product lines, Blue Selvedge and Mazzini 11, pay homage to the mill’s history and tradition through different types of production and construction.

For Spring ’18, Blue Selvedge, a line that utilizes restored shuttle looms from the 1950s, incorporates new compositions including linen. The result is a collection of soft garments with irregularities, updated with “colonial colors” like military green, ecru and royal blue.

Mazzini 11, known for its unconventional uses of indigo, mixing wool, cashmere and silk for the first time. The garments made with these fabrics combine the ease of use and maintenance of denim with an elegant and refined look. The mill’s goal is to create indigo garments that are acceptable in areas where until recently it was not even conceivable.

Berto will be exhibiting its Spring 2018 collection at Bluezone, Munich Fabric Start’s denim show, Jan. 31-Feb.1. The mill will be located in the Catalyzer section.
