Frame Checks Into the Ritz Paris, Again

Frame revisits the Ritz Paris with a second collection that pays homage to the world-renowned hotel. 

The Los Angeles-based brand on Wednesday launched a 44-piece capsule collection for men, women, children and pets that celebrates the legendary hotelier’s trademark crest and script. The motif adorns the collection’s varsity-style outerwear, unisex cashmere sweaters, classic tees and more. 

“Ritz Paris is an institution of French culture and an embodiment of the capital’s history and timeless elegance,” said Erik Torstensson, Frame co-founder and chief creative officer.

The collaboration follows Frame’s niche collaboration with New York’s iconic Carlyle Hotel and its first with the Ritz Paris in October last year. 

The Ritz Paris partnership stems from a text exchange between Torstensson and Camilla Al-Fayed, daughter of Ritz Paris owner Mohamed Al Fayed. Despite the hotel’s status as a Paris Fashion Week watering hole for globe-trotting fashionistas and Coco Chanel’s home for 30-plus years, the collection with Frame marked the first time the Ritz Paris explored a “merch partnership” bringing its storied history to fans at accessible prices.

Worn by celebrities from Naomi Campbell to Hailey Bieber, Frame reports that pieces from the first collaboration sold out immediately, with items like the varsity jacket now selling for 10-times the original price at thousands of dollars on resale sites.

Frame and Ritz Paris aims to recreate the magic with new statement items like jeans covered with Ritz-themed patches, a puffer jacket and hi-top sneakers. The expanded collection also includes children’s tops and hotel essentials such as striped pajamas and embroidered slippers. A dog jacket taps into the piping-hot trend for designer pet fashion.

“A second opportunity to share our brand’s identity outside of our historical avenues has been incredibly exciting,” said Natalie Bader Messian, Ritz Paris board member. “Our partnership with Frame allows Ritz Paris to immerse its reputable stature upheld since 1898 with Frame’s creative and dynamic style and concepts.”

The collection is available now on Frame’s website and at the Ritz Paris concept store located near the hotel’s famous Bar Hemmingway. Retail prices span $98-$2,298. 

It will also be available at Frame stores worldwide and select retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Galeries Lafayette Doha in Qatar, Holt Renfew, Moda Operandi, Net-a-Porter, Printemps in Paris and more. 

To mark the launch, Frame connects Paris and New York City in a campaign shot by photographer Alasdair McLellan near the Brooklyn Bridge. “McLellan sets a quintessential New York scene, cleverly juxtaposing the historical Parisian institution with the modern spirit of native New Yorkers,” it said.
