Not one to retreat to basic 5-pocket jeans, G-Star Raw is exploring its originality in a new capsule collection.
Described as a range of “new, high-end specials,” the Exclusives by G-Star Raw collection is based on the design team’s experimentation with denim-focused garments to create “elevated and refined styles with a considered, conceptual twist.”
Specifically, the collection takes inspiration from the Dakar Rally, an annual rally raid event for amateur and professional drivers that takes place in various locations like Paris, the Senegalese capital city of Dakar, and most recently, in Saudi Arabia. Pieces in the collection mimic hard-wearing “Enduro” equipment worn in the racing environment, G-Star described, with reversible features and unusual silhouettes.
A palette of light green and pink softens looks for spring, while Japanese denim with embroidered artwork and contrasting colors add personality to each garment.
Several pieces key into the ongoing shift to roomier fits.
The Bomber E has a loose-fitting design and detachable hood with an extended panel that covers the top shoulders for “optimum protection.” The padded jacket comes with zip pockets at the waist and shows a broad flap pocket at the chest. The oversized sleeves are reinforced with a woven tape along the seam and multiple pleats at the elbow.

A pink belted trench coat made with double-layered fabrics takes style cues from parkas made for extreme weather, and the GSRR 3D A-Cropped jean is inspired by G-Star’s iconic Elwood jean. Created out of two denim fabrics—100 percent cotton Japanese Kaiyo denim and 100 percent cotton drill twill—the jeans offer a roomy bootcut fit. Woven tape reinforces the seams at the inner legs.
Men’s and unisex styles include the E Washed Leather Jacket, which has the construction of a classic biker jacket but enhancements such as inward seams that create an oversized look. The white leather jacket is finished with back pleats, pockets on the sleeves, and premium mesh lining.

The E72H Lifesuit is based on an archival G-Star piece with enough pockets to store 72-hours’ worth of necessities, according to the brand. Elasticated hems and collars add ease of movement to the serious workwear item. The E72H Lifevest Shirt provides storage for 24-hours’ worth of essentials.
The limited-edition collection is available now and retails for $310-$950.
