Global Denim Expands Waterless Options, Performance Fibers

Global Denim aims to go beyond the expected in a new Spring/Summer 2019 collection, called Into the Blue. The Mexico-based mill launched the seven-part concept collection at Denim Premiére Vision in Paris on Tuesday, offering brands newness coupled with sustainable technology and improved fabric performance.

For S/S ’19, Global is introducing more fabrics that cater to the industry’s demand for waterless. The line boasts sustainable innovations from production and dying, to finishing with laser and ozone technology, as well as the mill’s newest water-saving process, Ecolojean, which it aims to implement across its entire product in the near future. The Ecolojean process results in zero water discharge, less dye and energy consumption.

In Powertek, a new collection that boasts Lycra T400, Lycra Dual FX and Lycra Shaping Technology, the mill offers brands more design possibilities and consumers longer lasting jeans. Constructions provide perfect recovery, more elasticity and strength and better performance and dimensional stability.

Global also launches a new line of stretch constructions for men and women. “We at Global understand that today stretch is one of the most important things in our market. It’s not about just skinny jeans, but rather about comfort in every part of your day,” the mill said.

In a line called Stretch’d, Global offers stretch fabrics that allow true character of rigid denim, but with the comfort of stretch. The line allows brands to offer heritage designs with the added value of comfort and movement. Meanwhile, Global Denim’s 4-way stretch fabric offers stretch in both the warp and weft, creating better elasticity, better arrangement in construction, more comfort and better movement on the body and superior performance.

Tencel is key to RealSoft, the mill’s line of fabrics with a soft hand feel, smooth texture and drapey quality. The line includes 10 different fabrics that uses Tencel in its construction. B-Touch represents Global’s group of brushed fabrics. The fabrics bring a unique look and texture to denim, providing warmth and coziness. The effect results in comfy casual apparel, or sophisticated formal looks.

The mill’s counters its broad range of soft fabrications with an updated S/S ’19 rigid collection. Salt and pepper effects and Japanese looks adds authenticity. However, as more women’s brands move into rigid, the mill is offering more lightweight and open rigid constructions.
