Good American is seeking fresh faces.
The Los Angeles-based premium denim brand, co-founded by Khloé Kardashian and Emma Grede, kicked off its fifth annual Opening Casting model contest on Wednesday, the sixth anniversary of the label’s birth.
The search will be open through Oct. 27 and women can enter to join the so-called #GoodSquad through the brand’s website by uploading two images and a video, and answering a questionnaire. They can also apply in person during the still-to-be-announced public tour dates in London, New York, Atlanta and L.A.
The semi-finalists will be asked to meet the brand in one of the above four cities.
Featured in the first season of “The Kardashians” on Hulu, the contest searches for women who embody the brand’s values of emulating confidence and female empowerment, no matter their size, background or location. The winners will be featured in Good American’s Spring 2023 campaign and will receive mentorship sessions and movement classes with industry professionals at agency Natural Models in L.A. where they will also have the chance to be signed.
Bradford Willcox and Katie H. Willcox founded Natural Model Management in 2011. The agency gives women an opportunity to model at their natural shape and size. Many of its models are involved with Healthy is the New Skinny, a company the pair founded to teach women self-love and healthy body image.
“From the very beginning, we’ve embraced body positivity and worked hard to be a brand that empowers women by supporting and inspiring confidence. Our intention has always been to redefine what is valued or even allowed in fashion by breaking down barriers and challenging dated norms,” says Good American’s website. “We do this by promising inclusivity in our designs, but we also want our message and movement to be represented by real badasses—our Good Squad!”
Good American’s new partners for the search are Zoom Events, an all-in-one virtual and hybrid events management platform, and the label’s U.S. retail partner, Revolve. Klarna, the shopping and payment service, has returned as a co-sponsor.
Good American, which achieved B Corporation status in October 2021, has had a busy year with launches of a denim collaboration with Zara, a line of denim-inspired swimwear and a compression denim collection. Its first brick-and-mortar store is set to open at Westfield Century in Los Angeles early next year.
