Summer is here, and denim brands are making a strong case for warm-weather denim with light washes, soft fabrications and skin-baring silhouettes.
It’s a West Coast look that Los Angeles-based Guess knows well. The heritage brand recently launched a denim-focused Guess Originals summer collection inspired by the California surf scene. The beach- and festival-ready collection is packed with archival surf-inspired graphics, pastel colors and ’90s-era motifs like daisy prints.
In an earnings call in December, Guess pledged to continue prioritizing denim in its future collections, and follows through on that promise with this new drop.
The men’s collection offers an array of relaxed items like tees, tanks, joggers, hoodies and crew neck sweatshirts, alongside slim and straight leg jeans. Light, dark and black washes are available, with the jean distinguished with the iconic Guess triangle logo on the back pocket.
Trends that saw their popularity skyrocket during the pandemic, like ribbed dresses, knit sets and cardigans, add comfort to the women’s range. The denim options are available in the form of cropped mom jeans, high rise, carpenter-fit denim and the debut of a retro-inspired wide-leg jean.
Guess gives Guess Originals “Kit” program a seasonal refresh as well. Designed to be an essentials collection, each Kit items pairs back to the core styles offered in the main line. Each silhouette included in the program emphasizes premium denim and heritage styles, it said.
Men’s styles include updated crewnecks made with lightweight Terry cloth, breathable hoodies, elevated light twill cargo pants. Light to dark stonewash denim, chambray shirts and pocket tees round out the men’s range. For women, the Kit program offers a variety of ribbed tanks, bodysuits, mid-thigh shorts and denim jackets in both light and dark stonewash.
The collections are now available online and in stores. Retail prices range from $34-$128.
