Wildfox’s Spring ’15 collection tells a story chock-full of worldly adventures and spontaneity with gypsy-inspired tees, sweaters, swimwear and distressed denim. Intended to be mixed, matched and even mismatched, the collection includes sun-bleached pastel and bold primary colors used as a backdrop for ethnic prints, globally influenced graphics and travel-inspired sayings.
For a festival vibe, dungarees in both black and medium blue washes are equipped with a repaired front pocket to hold concert essentials. Other travel-friendly styles include the Day Trip short shorts with a roomier fit for comfort, pre-distressed details and a “WF’ patch on the back pocket. The Traveling pants have a boyfriend fit with contrasting embossed patchwork over the knees and a slightly cropped ankle.
Drawstring waists are prominent. Wildfox’s drawstring Beach Bells pants have a super-flared leg and is offered in the same paisley print fabric as a unisex tunic fit for a matching head to toe beach look. Drawstring shorts feature rolled hems and high waists. Rompers return with an oversized body, drop sleeves and drawstring waist gym short bottom made with baby rib fabric. The Dream Tie Dye romper is a classic ’70s fit with spaghetti straps, an open tie back, high waist, drawstring shorts and white piping around the edges.
Sweaters are oversized with roomy fits for spring. Scoop necks, loose knit and chunky acrylic fabrics and dropped shoulder seams deliver a relaxed So-Cal vibe. Shawl cardigans made with loose Sherpa fabric wraps the body.
New for spring is the super soft Campfire sweatshirt and light terrycloth sweater in an allover purple and blue sublimated tile print. The super soft and slightly stretchy Campfire leggings, which are long john-style sweats featuring a drop-crotch, button detailing, ties at each hip, and banding at waist and ankles. Also new for the season are a number of fun tees and tanks with ethnic prints and witty quotes, great for layering or worn on their own.
Wildfox creative director Kimberley Gordon said, “This past year was quite a turbulent one for me, and it seems maybe for the world also. I think I had this overall feeling of wanting to escape and live off the land, I visualized a group of girls with a whole lot of passion and fearlessness and absolutely nothing to lose. They would beg, borrow, and steal their way through countries, hypnotizing boys and working odd jobs to make a little money. Their lives were only for each other and themselves, there was a sense of freedom in designing this collection, a way for me to feel it along with them.”
The Gypsy collection is available now through March at the Wildfox flagship store in Los Angeles and Wildfox.com. Prices range from $52-$148 for knit tees, tanks, jumpers, dresses, shorts and sweats, and $138-$198 for denim.
