Hiut Denim Co. Cozies Up to Corduroy and Color

Huit Denim Co. has bowed its first range of corduroy bottoms for men and women. The collection spans men’s slim and regular fits to women’s straight and wide-leg fits in autumnal navy and corn yellow colorways.

“This year we have had a great reaction to color,” said Sara Ladd, head of product. “A crosshatch sea canvas denim, brown denim, green and khaki chino selvedge—they’ve all been a hit. There’s appetite for something other than indigo at the moment.”

Describing corduroy as denim’s “distant relation,” Hiut sourced the fabric from Brisbane Moss, the original makers of high-quality corduroy fabric since 1858. The chosen fabrics for its foray outside of denim are 13-ounce “jumbo” 8 wale cord made with 97 percent cotton and 3 percent stretch.

Hiut Denim branded leather patches, copper rivets and “super tough” ecru twill pocket lining are some of the details from the brand’s core denim range carried into the limited edition corduroy line.

Each corduroy pant retails for 250 pounds, or $272. Hiut will begin to shipping in mid-November.

“We’re really happy with the quality of the corduroy from Brisbane Moss and the colors are beautiful,” Ladd said. “I don’t think this will be the last of the cord from us.”
