H&M Uses Denimite in Conscious Exclusive Collection

H&M found a happy medium between history and innovation with its 2016 Conscious Exclusive Collection, available in H&M stores on April 7.

The women’s collection pays homage to the exhibition Fashion Forward – 300 years of Fashion at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. H&M’s design team used the museum’s fashion archives to pull key pieces from the past three centuries of couture and modernized them with forward, sustainable materials.

The collection features Denimite, a fabrication made from recycled worn-out denim. H&M is the first company to utilize the sustainable material. Other materials include organic silk, recycled linen, Tencel blends and beads and rhinestones made from recycled glass.

Fluid silhouettes and drapey shapes dominate the line. Also new for this season’s launch are three wedding dresses for the eco-conscious bride.
