Invista’s Hybrid technology, which premiered last October, enables mills to create denim combining the comfort and flexibility of a knit with the aesthetic of woven denim.
Garmon brings its latest process, GreenScreen, to the collaboration. GreenScreen allows companies to transparently assess chemical toxicity and, in this case, aided Garmon in selecting chemical finishes for the denim with relatively low environmental impacts. In lieu of potassium permanganate, Garmon used Avol Oxy White and the latest enzymatic solutions to maximize eco-efficiency.
Jean Hegedus, global segment director for denim at Invista said, “Knit denim, while growing, is still at the early stages of development, and it’s important to understand best practices for wet and dry processing. Given Garmon’s unique chemical processes and Italian inspired design, we felt they would be the perfect company to help us with this initiative.”
