Kingpins Show co-sponsor and LYCRA owner, Invista, will showcase its latest fiber innovation, LYCRA Beauty, at the two-day industry event in New York starting Jan. 20. The fabrics, which are already used successfully in intimate apparel, swimwear and legwear, is moving into denim, where its comfortable shaping qualities are poised to strike hot.
A survey conducted by Strategic Insights showed that more than 80 percent of women in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany and Italy were interested in purchasing denim garments that could enhance and shape their body, eliminating the need for shaping undergarments.
To help address consumers’ needs, Invista used body scanning technology to determine the ability of a fabric to provide comfortable shaping. Based on months of testing, Invista developed fabric quality standards. Garments made with fabrics that pass these standards are eligible to carry the LYCRA Beauty logo or hangtag.
Invista global director of denim Jean Hegedus said, “By sourcing fabrics that meet LYCRA Beauty brand quality standards, brands and retailers can have the tools to develop garments that provide comfortable shaping, resulting in a high degree of consumer satisfaction.”
