Club Monaco adds Jean Shop NYC to their next installment of its Makers and Muse series, a curated project featuring their favorite innovative brands.
Known for designing and producing selvedge and hand-distressed denim, Jean Shop co-founder Eric Goldstein has over 20 years of denim experience with Gap and RRL before launching the brand in 2004. An expert in washing, dyeing and finishing, Goldstein sources the fabrics in Japan, sewn in California, and then hand-finishes the jeans himself in New York.
He is a firm believer that every quality jean is a work of art each distinct that has its own story to be told. In addition to selling its classic American denim at Club Monaco, Jean Shop will share its behind the scenes look into its design process on Facebook and Twitter.
“That’s the beauty of indigo rope yarn is that core is white and outside is blue and as you rub it over time, that gives it so much dimension—it’s a piece of art,” Goldstein said.
The lightweight chambray denim will be a summer favorite as Goldstein described it as an easy jean to wear with sneakers or flip flops on the beach.
“The inspiration was to make a comfortable summer weight jean while still keeping all of our same components as our heavyweight jean in a lighter weight fabric,” he said.
The Jean Shop NYC import line of jeans with a heavy wash run for $195 and domestic line with a similar wash run for $320. The brand also plans to launch six new fits for women in July.
