Jeanologia Talks Sustainability in Amsterdam

The Rivet 50 is calling for nominations for leaders in the denim industry in 5 categories: design, influencer, leadership, sustainability and supply chain. Nominations close on May 23.

Students at the Amsterdam Jean School got a lesson in sustainability from Jeanologia.

The sustainable technology company shared its innovations with future denim designers at the Blue Lab testing laboratory in Amsterdam during a two-day workshop.

The masterclass, taught by Jeanologia’s Luis Górriz, focused on the creative possibilities of laser and ozone technology and how to design finishes using the eMark software. Students were also taught how they can select the right fabrics based on Jeanologia’s Light Sensitive Fabric Test, a study that analyses how denim fabrics react to new sustainable processes, especially laser.

Górriz said trainings like the workshop are vital to Amsterdam because it is “the epicenter of training future designers towards a sustainable and efficient model of denim production.”

Jeanologia will continue educating the city’s denimhead community during Amsterdam Denim Days. The company will present customization ideas using its Nano Technology at the Blueprint Festival April 21-22. Jeanologia Custom Technology Director Alex Penadés will discuss how the digital revolution is changing jeans and how customization and low-cost are compatible during a talk, “Blue-volution You: From Uniformity to Intelligent Creativity,” on April 21. Jeanologia CEO Enrique Silla will also take part in Transformers on April 21.
