Jeans To Go: AYR Debuts Home Try-On

With the rising popularity of digital shopping, there are fewer and fewer reasons to actually go shopping. The latest development comes from womenswear line AYR, owned by Bonobos Inc. and launched in 2013 by alums of J. Crew and Madewell. The brand has adopted the home try-on business model that famously put Warby Parker on the map.

Customers can currently only try one style, The Skinny in the Jac’s Jeans color ($175). The program allows buyers to add three different sizes to their order, temporarily charging them only $1 per pair. The company ships the jeans so that they arrive within two days and allow the buyer one week to try them on. Then AYR takes back anything that doesn’t fit and only charges customers for what they keep.

According to, brand director Maggie Winter reports 75 percent of shoppers who have purchased through the home try-on program are new at Ayr. She said that, in the future, they plan to expand into more denim and potentially into outerwear.
