Denim heads nostalgic for comforting symbols of their youth can now purchase Levi’s latest collaboration with Mickey Mouse and his entourage.
The brand recently dropped the Levi’s x Disney Mickey & Friends collection, a men’s and women’s line of tops, jeans and more that depict Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy talking to one another on the phone and “staying connected”—a prevalent theme during a time of social distancing.
According to Karyn Hillman, Levi’s chief product officer, the mix of nostalgic styles and youthful references is exactly what consumers need right now.
“We found this amazing graphic from the ’30s with Mickey and Minnie on the phone, and we just felt like that image said it all,” she said. “It’s such an optimistic and upbeat message, and Disney gave us a big graphics toolbox to work with, so it’s a really fun and inspiring collection. And then, we infused a very ’80s and ’90s vibe through silhouette and print direction, which makes for something that’s so perfect for this moment.”
The collection includes men’s and women’s denim, T-shirts, hoodies, fleece, jackets and a bucket hat and tote bag featuring Disney characters stylized with vibrant color-blocking patterns.
The collection’s denim pieces includes Levi’s men’s 502 Taper jean, updated to include an oversized Mickey Mouse graphic down the right leg. The women’s high-rise boyfriend jean features an oversized Minnie Mouse graphic down the left leg. Levi’s iconic Trucker Jacket also got an update. The two-tone classic has a Mickey and Minnie graphic on the back indigo side, and another graphic on the chest of the solid black side.
Levi’s and Disney previously collaborated on a Mickey Mouse 90th anniversary collection in 2018. Since then, the cartoon-on-denim trend has only gained momentum, with Levi’s dropping multiple Hello Kitty collaborations, Wren + Glory featuring Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants on its hand-painted denim jackets, and Paige creating a denim jacket for Minnie Mouse to wear for the Create & Cultivate 100 List launch party last year.
The Levi’s x Disney Mickey & Friends collection retails for $30-$146 and is now available worldwide on Levi.com, the Levi’s App, in Levi’s stores and in select wholesale partners.
