Levi’s Lands on List of Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality

Levi Strauss & Co. announced Tuesday that it had received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for the 13th time.

After the brand’s CEO, Chip Bergh’s controversial request that gun owners not bring weapons into Levi’s stores, and Bergh’s recognition as the ‘Most Admired’ CEO in the Bay Area, Levi’s continues to make headlines as they achieved a 100 percent score, solidifying the idea that they value their employees.

“We have a long history of advocating for and protecting LGBTQ rights—both inside and outside our company. And we know the fight is not over,” said Chip Bergh, Levi’s president and CEO. “We’ll continue to be a champion for the LGBTQ community and provide a workplace that is inclusive and supportive.”

The news might not come as a surprise, but enforces the weight the brand puts into creating and maintaining an accepting and forward-thinking environment for its employees.

The CEI rated over 1,000 companies, and evaluated each for LGBTQ-related practices and policies. Some examples of the policies the index evaluated are non-discrimination workplace protections, life partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, and public engagement among other beneficial programs.
