Levi’s aims to please. On Monday the brand launched 501 CT, a pre-tapered version of its iconic 501 jean for men and women.
According to Levi’s senior vice president of global design Jonathan Cheung, after hemming, tapering the leg of 501 jeans is the most requested alteration in Levi’s stores and tailor shops around the world. As a result, Levi’s decided to give customers what they want.
Levi’s recommends wearing the 501 CT one of three ways: down-sized (1 to 2 sizes smaller) for a slim and modern fit, true-to-size for a classic look, or up-sized (1 to 2 sizes larger) for a more relaxed fit. Jeans can be rolled up, rolled down, cuffed, shredded, patched and more for a customized look.
Karyn Hillman, Levi’s chief product officer, said, “The great thing about the CT is, like the 501, you can wear it many different ways.” She added, “I love wearing mine slouchy and relaxed, sitting low on my hips with a cuff at the ankle. I almost always wear them with a great boot or heels.”
The 501 CT range offer classic, slim and relaxed fits in light to dark washes. The jean is also updated with a button fly and roomier waist. Women’s 501 CT jeans retail for $98. Men’s retail for $68 to $78.
