While New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is mainly about the women’s shows, celebrity mommies and their respected kin flocked to watch their children dominate the runway this season in the the Kids Rock! Spring ’16 show. Presented by Haddad Brands, Kids Rock! showcased spring childrenswear from Levi’s, Nike, Converse, Nike SB, Jordan and Hurley.
A playful and upbeat show, the clothes were modeled by celebrity’s kids: Kiyan Anthony (son of New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony), Kennedy Cruz (daughter of New York Giants’ Victor Cruz), Jalen Jeter-Martin (nephew of retired New York Yankees Derek Jeter), Leah Still (daughter of Cincinnati Bengals’ Devon Still) and Mason and Brady Wilkerson (sons of actress Melissa Joan Hart). Music was provided by DJ Chino and included a performance from Kaya Stewart, the daughter of Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics.
Each year the show benefits a charity that helps children in need. Now in its fourth year, Haddad Brands partnered with the Victor Cruz Foundation, an organization that supports kids in excelling in science, technology, engineering, art and math. “This is my third time coming,” Cruz said about Kids Rock!. “After the second time, when my daughter walked in the show, I wanted to be more involved, as well as my charity, so we had a meeting with Haddad,” he explained.
“We’re the only kids show part of NYFW and we just want to keep giving back to the youth that are contributing good things for different communities. We work with great brands and stand for great values and want to continue and extend that to younger generation,” said Sam Haddad, principal owner of Haddad Brands.
Highlights of the Levi’s collection included a DIY painted trucker jacket, a destructed barstow western shirt paired with 511 slim fit jeans and raglan tees for boys.
