Levi’s proves it’s more than capable of producing styles fit for both the catwalk and the sidewalk. Utilitarian influences and soft tailoring shape the latest Levi’s Made & Crafted collection for Fall/Winter 2021, with bold designs targeted to the premium market.
Standout women’s pieces include a head-to-toe dusty rose look that pairs the brand’s High and Loose jeans with a matching oversized wedge sleeve Trucker jacket; as well as a textural black and pink floral fringe jacket and wide-leg jean featuring fabric from the French mill Malhia Kent. Elevated outerwear punctuates the women’s collection with pieces such as the Sherpa crop moto jacket, a faux leather coat in a rich forest green hue.
Even with its boundary-pushing looks, the collection remains true to the brand’s dedication to looking good while also feeling good.
“We really wanted to invoke the spirit of adventure in this season’s collection, along with a focus on soft tailoring elements that give it that elevated Levi’s Made & Crafted touch,” said Jill Guenza, vice president, global women’s design at Levi’s. “For women, we are blending inventive shapes and silhouettes, all with soft structure, comfort and leisure at the core.”
The men’s collection shares a similar focus, with highlights including the slouchy Type II trucker jacket and a strong selection of straight-fit bottoms such as a tailored straight and standard chino defined by center creases, finished hems and other trouser-style elements.
At the core of both the women’s and men’s collections is Levi’s commitment to sustainability. This season, Levi’s Made & Crafted introduced new men’s and women’s jackets and jeans made from recycled denim. Featuring technology from Re:newcell and proprietary fabric Circulose, the styles are made up of 20 percent recycled denim, 20 percent sustainably sourced viscose and 60 percent organic cotton, underscoring both the brand’s and the industry’s shift to circularity.
Cottonized hemp is another big part of the collection, and is featured in the hip-hugger jean and the crop flare styles for women. Levi’s has been a leader in cottonized hemp innovations, and debuted garments made with 70 percent cotton and 30 percent hemp in its Spring ’19 Levi’s Wellthread x Outerknown collaboration.
The new Levi’s Made & Crafted collection also builds on its Made in Japan range featuring authentic Japanese craftsmanship developed in partnership with Japan’s Kaihara Denim Mill, best known for its unique in-house rope dyeing technique. Constructed of premium Japanese fabrics and finished by hand, items in this range feature foil embossed sunrise back leather patches and internal Japanese flag labels.
The Levi’s Made & Crafted Fall/Winter 2021 collection is available now in Levi’s stores, on the Levi’s App, and on Levi.com, with prices ranging from $58-$248.
