Levi’s (LS&Co.) takes a digital leap forward with Virtual Stylist, a new artificial intelligence platform launched Thursday on Levi’s website and Facebook Messenger. The new technology is designed to improve online sales and offer consumers personalized service.
Acting as a 24/7 stylist, Virtual Stylist curates items according to a customer’s needs. Through a chatbot messaging service available on desktop computers and mobile devices, the AI stylist asks the consumer questions about their preferred fit and style.
The platform is powered by moda.ai and uses personalized fit data from True Fit, the data-driven personalization platform footwear and apparel retailers.
Through the launch of Virtual Stylist, Levi’s aims to provide shoppers a more personalized, easy experience anywhere and anytime. “No matter where the consumer chooses to shop, we want to give them a personalized experience that leverages our expertise in fit and style to address the biggest challenge of finding the pair of perfect-fitting jeans,” said Marc Rosen, LS&Co. executive vice president and president of global e-commerce.
The Virtual Stylist also taps into Gen Z consumers’ desire for social approval of their purchases. The digital platform offers a crowd-sourcing option using a share function that allows users to send products to friends who can then vote for and comment on their favorite styles.
“We are on the leading edge of a challenge that all retail companies face today—how to create a seamless and personalized shopping experience for consumers, and new technologies like our Virtual Stylist are integral to that evolution at LS&Co.,” Rosen added.
