Maison Mihara Yasuhiro revives punk for Spring ’18.
The Japanese designer, who cut his teeth in the fashion industry as a shoe designer in 1997, titled his rebellious Spring ’18 collection “#Blank Mirrors,” focusing on wide cuts and distressing.
The collection offers androgynous silhouettes like wide leg jeans, boxy denim jackets and extra-long jean coats. Short-sleeve jackets are layered over long-sleeve shirts. Jean shirts are paired with shorter jean jackets. Yasuhiro’s mixes light and dark washes with black denim, with some styles featuring strips of white paint, novelty patches, undone hems and heavy distressing.
Non-denim offerings include moto-inspired leather jackets, flannels and acid-washed overcoats.
