Denim is an essential ingredient in the newly launched Martha by Martha Stewart Fashion Collection.
The new offering of tops, bottoms, outerwear, loungewear and accessories inspired by Stewart’s own wardrobe debuted last week as an exclusive on her webshop Martha.com and is produced by Marquee Brands, which has owned the Martha Stewart mark since 2019 when it bought it from Sequential Brands Group.
The collection is being pitched online as “Elevated everyday fashion designed to simplify your life and look perfectly polished while you’re busy living it.”
Three jeans ($85 each) and a two-pocket chambray shirt ($70) are the denim-based items in the assortment. All the jeans range in waist sizes from 26 to 36 and the shirt runs XS to XL.
The Mid Rise Cropped Flare jean is an aptly named cropped flare comfort stretch five-pocket jean with a button fly. It currently comes in two garment washed colors: white (“Vanilla Bean” in Stewartspeak) and faded blue. A dark indigo version can be preordered and will ship in late October.
The Work Jean is a mid-rise, straight-leg five-pocket with a button fly and a relaxed fit. It is available in either medium blue or dark indigo.
The third jean is the Mid Rise Skinny five-pocket in white, medium blue or sage green.
The 100 percent cotton button-down chambray shirt has two flap chest pockets and comes in three colors: light blue, dark indigo and oat. The workwear-inspired top is described as “a personal favorite of Martha’s for chore days on the farm.”
Unsurprisingly, martha.com also sells… matching placemats for the dining table. A set of four basketweave ones in a denim-toned chambray color are constructed from Terrastrand yarns by Chilewich, which employ vegetable compounds instead of petroleum to achieve their stiffness and durability. At $64, the mats are a mere $6 less than the actual chambray shirt.
