Two American icons are joining forces this fall for the first time.
In honor of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary, Levi’s announced Thursday a new collaboration with the mouse that revisits nostalgic designs and prints.
Along with unisex tees and sweatshirts featuring Mickey graphics, the online-only collection also includes a special edition Mickey-adorned ex-boyfriend Trucker jacket for women, a men’s Sherpa Trucker jacket and a pair of Levi’s 501 jeans with an all-over Mickey print.
The graphics tap into the current market’s interest in streetwear-inspired logos and throwback designs. The denim pieces have a lived-in feel and feature washes with the ’80s and ’90s look that’s en mode at the moment.
To add a fashion element to the collection, many of the graphics—which have been pulled from Disney’s archives in Anaheim, Calif.—feature flocking, embroidery and sequins.
The collection also boasts a line-up of accessories, like a unisex denim cap with Mickey embroidery, a set of bandanas, knit beanies, socks and denim totes. Retail prices span $18 for socks, to $148 for the Sherpa jacket.
Levi’s teased the collection last week on Snapchat when it released a “snapcode” for Snapchat users to scan and gain access to an exclusive filter and denim baseball cap to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday.
The partnership between Levi’s and Mickey is not exclusive. Disney also tapped Rag & Bone for a celebratory unisex capsule collection sold at a premium price point.
The line includes T-shirts, pique polos, button-down shirts and sweatshirts with the mouse motif. A black denim jacket features a pop-color pocket and a special edition Mickey graphic on the back. Jeans and chinos are also accented with Mickey-inspired color accents.
The collaboration is available now online and in Rag & Bone stores. The brand will celebrate Mickey’s anniversary at select locations this Saturday with giveaways, Mickey-themed snacks and caricature artists.
