Moleskine Re-Writes Bag and Wallet Design

Moleskine aims to be known for more than pocket-sized notebooks. The brand is releasing an expanded range of bags and wallets in its Travelling Collection designed for folks on the go.

The bags were designed with the contents they hold in mind. Moleskine vice president of brand equity and communications Maria Sebregondi said, “Every time we pack our bag for the day ahead it’s like crafting an identity to show to others. Our bags contain our innermost thoughts and ideas. The things inside — belongings, projects in progress, digital devices that connect to our online selves — help us to express ourselves. Together they make up the analog cloud of objects that defines us.”

The line includes a messenger, backpack, tote, reporter and shoulder bag, each with an interior that recalls Moleskine notebook’s minimalist aesthetic. Interior compartments, pockets and loops are fitted specifically for essential on-the-road items, while a series of metal snap hooks, eyelets and exterior pockets give quick access to phones and keys. Contrasting lining adds a pop of color to the neutral range.

That two-tone color way is carried into the line of wallets, which are equipped with Moleskine’s signature elastic bands. Styles include a Double wallet with two compartments and dual closure, the Zip wallet good for coins, the Passport wallet for travel and the Horizontal wallet with a reversible design. The line also includes a Smart wallet, which features exterior card slots and back pocket.
