After three years of reveling in indigo in Europe, American denim heads will get to do the same in New York Sept. 30-Oct 1.
The event, aimed to connect denim insiders, designers and brands to denim consumers, will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street, a popular venue for small trade shows, consumer events and festivals.
Last year, Kingpins Founder Andrew Olah, and founders of Amsterdam Denim Days, Mariette Hoitink and Lucel van den Hoeven, met with New York’s denim industry to gauge interest in bringing the festival stateside.
“The energy and inspiration we all get from the successful and influential Amsterdam Denim Days is immense. We can’t wait to launch an all-American version for style-setting, indigo-devoted New Yorkers,” said van den Hoeven in a press release.
The schedule of events will include interactive displays and workshops from brands, designers and denim mills alongside in-store events, a vintage denim market, parties and panels. Each event is geared to give consumers access to heritage brands and connect brands, designers and members of the denim supply chain to their end customers.
“As a collaborator in Amsterdam Denim Days, I have had the great pleasure to see an incredible concept resonate with an audience and grow each season. We believe that denim lovers stateside are ready for a denim festival of their own,” said Olah. “There is so much passion for denim here, so many great resources, personalities and craftsmen that will help us make New York Denim Days a must-attend event for the denim community.”
The complete New York Denim Days schedule will be announced shortly.
Amsterdam Denim Days will take place April 17-23.
