NYDJ is the number-one women’s denim brand at department stores in the United States, according to the NPD Group Consumer Tracking Survey. The brand’s recent hiring of a high-profile denim executive reflects its status.
NYDJ Apparel, LLC announced that Lisa Collier has been appointed president and CEO of the company, replacing Robert C. Skinner after his resignation. Collier was the president of Global Dockers and chief transformation officer of Levi Strauss & Co.
NYDJ, formerly Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, has made a name in the market, specifically targeting women over 35 years old. The brand transitioned its name in 2013 to facilitate product expansion beyond denim into sportswear and other fashion bottoms.
Speaking on Collier’s appointment, Mackey McDonald, chairman of the NYDJ board of directors and senior advisor to Crestview Partners, said, “Lisa has a rich knowledge of denim and retail, as well as a track record of successfully transforming organizations for growth. Moreover, Lisa has a unique blend of operational expertise coupled with strategic vision and palpable creative energy.”
Collier joined LS & Co. in 2003, holding senior roles of increasing responsibility across the company in sourcing/production, product innovation, merchandising, retail and international. Previously she worked at Tarrant Apparel Group and The Limited.
