Though denim is in and of itself an iconic garment, a new concept by Paige is building on what it means to be an icon. The premium denim and lifestyle brand recently launched the Icon Collection, its first-ever men’s capsule collection featuring elevated basics and investment pieces.
The collection is a nod to “the people and places that continue to push the bar, break down barriers, and move fashion in a direction that will impact tomorrow’s culture.”
And in particular, it encapsulates the essence of what makes Paige’s hometown of Los Angeles an iconic city and hub for culture. “While we at Paige take tremendous pride in our roots, we also recognize the monumental moments in history that helped contribute to the lore of L.A.,” the brand stated.
Referencing pop culture moments like The Doors performing at the historic nightclub the Troubadour or Van Halen taking the stage at Whiskey a Go Go, subtle elements of L.A.’s nightlife scene are incorporated into designs for the Icon Collection.
“Our focus is always on our customers, and what they are looking for from our brand. Which has always been bringing a sense of comfort and emotion to the pieces we make,” said Jon Geller, Paige men’s director. “This collection was a chance to continue to elevate that focus, while making sure our customers look and feel good.”
Items like a shirt and coated jeans with a tonal crocodile print, knit polos with a zipper collar, plaid trousers and slim-fit leather pants with a crinkle effect smack of L.A.’s rock roots.
Other pieces like modified hoodies, a fleece pullover, cargo pocket joggers and a reversible knit sweater and long-sleeve tees offer an upgrade to at-home basics. Jeans in the collection include Paige’s popular Lennox fit in vintage gray and a medium indigo.
Being a fall/winter launch, outerwear was a strong area of focus. Outerwear options include a wool blend varsity jacket with black leather inlays, a canvas aviator jacket with a detachable faux fur collar, a coated jean jacket made with Paige’s signature Transcend fabric and a modern take on a vintage peacoat.
Retailing for $69-$975, the collection arrives with a higher price point than Paige’s main line. The reason being is the selection of elevated hardware finishes and quality fabrics used throughout the collection.
“I think the most noticeable difference on the fabric side would be the leather pant we’ve offered,” Geller said. “The fabric is amazing, and as always the fit is spot on. On the silhouette side, it would be the peacoat. Outerwear was a big focus here and we had a lot of fun with that piece.”
Though fashion has taken a backseat since the start of the pandemic, consumers are shifting dollars to pieces made with quality fabrics and enduring design.
“One of our strengths has always been our focused direction for the men’s line and what the consumer wanted from it,” Geller said. “This was the next step in that evolution. Our blend of comfort and fashion, and the continuing elevation of that is now more relevant than ever.”
The Icon Collection is available now online at Paige.com and at Paige retail locations and retailers like Nordstrom, Harrods and Selfridges.
