Piero Turk Launches a New Book at Blueprint

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Denim guru Piero Turk shares his denim-enriched life in a new photo book, Number Two: A Life with Denim. The book features images of vintage workwear, denim memorabilia and inspirational collages of color, texture and shape.

All the photos in the book were taken by Turk, a reflection of his love for details. “Anything that catches my eyes can become a source of inspiration,” he said, adding that his first trip to Tokyo back in 1987 ignited him to discover a new vision about denim.

Through the book, Turk also aims inspire others to share his commitment to denim history and a new future for social and environmental fair denim production. In the book, Turk writes that he dreams of denim that respects the people who produce it.

“I’m expecting to see more mills going seriously to a more sustainable direction,” Turk said.

The limited edition book (100 copies) will be released at Blueprint’s Denim Market (April 21-22) during Amsterdam Denim Days. It will also be available for purchase on Etsy. Turk released his first self-published book, Details, in 2012, followed by Detail – A Life with denim in 2014.
