Pull & Bear Borrows From the ’80s for New Denim Collection

Throwback designs from the ’80s dominate Pull & Bear’s latest denim collection.

The Inditex-owned retailer, which made its e-commerce debut in the U.S. this year, unveiled “First Step Denim,” a men’s and women’s winter denim collection based on slouchy silhouettes, workwear and oversized tops. The line combines classic blue, gray tones and vintage fades.

The worker trend is at the heart of the men’s collection, which is packed with utility and workwear garments. Wide-fit trousers and oversized drop-shoulder jackets and vintage fades are seen throughout the collection.

Among the indigo highlights in the men’s collection are a wide-leg chino jean with decorative darts, a hooded denim jacket with front pouch, loose fit worker-style jeans with contrast seams and a matching jacket with four front pockets and corduroy collar.

Men’s black acid wash jeans and a denim jacket make a bold ’80s impression. The wash is a standout in women’s, too, as a puffed-sleeve jean jacket and slouchy jeans with a matching belt.

Elasticized waistbands add a relaxed vibe to women’s baggy-fitting jean and denim mini-skirts. Other key items for women include cropped jeans with darts, wide jeans with front yoke and dart details and a button-front denim skirt.

In a year that saw heritage brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Guess tap into their own archives for vintage designs, and runway headliners like Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Versace put their own spin on the trend, Pull & Bear’s collection offers an accessible take on the decade.

Men’s styles retail for $35.90-$79.90. Women’s retail for $29.90-$59.90.

Pull & Bear tapped Frankiewicz & Rozniata to shoot the campaign for the collection featuring fresh faces Stella Lucia, Tommy Vanden Meerssche and Malika El Maslouhi.
